Interacting with escarp can be a little tricky if you aren't already familiar with Twitter (we weren't, when we started this project,) so we've created a tutorial with pictures and text to explain the process. Pay special attention to the pink highlights.
.) If you're on this page, you'll see the
escarp@Twitter link above. This link takes you to our Twitter page.

.) If you aren't already logged in to Twitter, you'll see this "Join today!" bar on our Twitter page. Click "Join today!"

.) To join Twitter, fill out this page with a name (yours, ideally,) a username, a password, an email address and a confirmation code.

.) Twitter will give you a chance to look up other friends on Twitter. It's optional; we skipped it.

.) Then Twitter gives you a few Twitter accounts that a lot of people find interesting; we skipped this, too. You see to the right it shows you'll be following escarp.

.) if you supply a valid email you won't see this red warning. Below that, though, you see our latest post. Click on profile near the top right.

.) Here's your profile. We use the name, username, more info URL, one line bio (and avatar, from the picture tab) to assemble your author's bio. So fill these out if you plan to submit. Click the devices tab.

b.) Here's an example of what the bios can look like on our site.

.) Here's where you can add your cell phone and receive escarp by text message. If you fill this out, Twitter sends a confirmation to your phone. You still, however, get to specify which accounts you receive updates from. If you only plan to SUBSCRIBE to escarp, go to
step 19. If you want to submit, click the picture tab and keep reading.)

.) If you have a picture (.jpg, .gif, .png, under 700k) to upload, Twitter can turn it into your avatar. Square images work best. Click "Browse..."

.) Navigate to the file you want, select it, and click "Open".

.) Click "Save" to save the image.

.) So here's the test image we used as our avatar. If you want to replace it, just repeat these steps. Click "Home".

.) Click on "escarp" in our first update on your homepage.

.) If we haven't had a chance to add you back yet (it may take a few hours sometimes,) the only "Action" you can take is to block us.

.) Once we've added you, though, you'll see some new actions--one lets you message your submission to us. Click "message escarp".

.) You'll land on this page with a message box. At the top right corner of the box is your character counter.

.) Remember, we can't accept more than 140, including a space, the at symbol, and your username at the end (eg:' @escarp'). Click "send".

.) You'll be taken to your sent messages tab, where you'll see what you just sent us. That's all you need to know to submit, but we hope you'll read on to see how to subscribe.
.) When you're viewing our profile, you'll see a long, narrow box if you're following us. By default, you won't receive our messages on your phone. Click "Device updates OFF".

.) This new box will open below, allowing you to accept text-messages from escarp.

.) Click "on".

.) After a second, the box will change into a notification message like this. Done! You're subscribed! Go back to our profile and follow the same steps to unsubscribe, if you need.
